I've got a set up with the following mishmash of equipment
Sony KF50XBR800 TV- which uses a toggle power on/off Denon AV-3805 Reciever- with an RC969 remote that's had a hard life, but still works. The Denon "needs" some of the commands from this remote to tune stations, etc. WD HDTV Live Plus - used for Netflix and for streaming recorded TV from Computer/PVR - stored on NAS KWorld SA-295Q DE Tuner - HDTV OTA ATSC tuner for Sony - odd little remote Sony DVD Sony VCR
The Denon is the audio/video switching system and heart of the system. Everthing else is a source - except the Sony TV, which is the output.
I'd like to be able to use ONE remote for my daily uses o: 1) watching TV (sony, denon, kworld) 2) playing netflix (sony, denon, WD HDTV) 3) playing recorded TV (sony, denon, WD HDTV) 4) listening to radio (denon) 5) listening to CD (on dvd) (denon, dvd) 5) watching dvd (sony, denon, dvd) 6) watching vcr. (sony, denon, vcr)
I've had one "universal" remote (returned when we dumped the cable box). It didn't have even basic codes for the WD HDTV Live Plus and nothing for the KWorld.
I think most of this is pretty straightforward, but I'm concerned about: 1) loosing the functionality in the RC969 remote if it "dies" 2) running the WD HDTV Live Plus 3) running the KWorld Tuner 4) minor concern about toggle on/off on TV getting out of sync, but my legs still work pretty good and I can fix that with a few steps!
I've looked at Harmony, URC, All-in-one. I've looked into the JP1 concept and am competent technically. Simple IR control is fine. The goal is to get rid of the pile of remotes and enjoy being entertained.
