iPad Introduced
On January 27, 2010, Apple introduced the iPad and turned the home control industry on its head, simultaneously stirring up groans and cheers among CE pros. Groans from dealers used to selling high-margin touchpanels for $5,000 apiece who would now have to compete with a $499 product with similar capabilities.
