Most receivers have some sort of an electronic equalizer as part of their automatic calibration system (new concept versus your model), but it's not the sort of thing you fiddle with, it's more of a "get your system perfect and leave it" idea.
A phono inputs going to be hard to find in a new receiver. You can buy external preamps, and new turntables often have preamps built-in these days.
