I didn't go to the link, but it's possible to fit a movie into "2" 650MB CDR for a regular length movie (less than 2 hrs).

Each 650MB CDR will hold roughly 55 mins of MPEG1 movie + sound. Remember, this is MPEG1, not MPEG2. Therefore, video quality can only be as good as "VHS" (could be slightly better or worse). Also, you don't get AC3 5.1 channels, instead, you'll only have STEREO or Dolby Pro Logic.

I have not made one myself but I don't see a point doing it. Maybe one day I'll get a nice MPEG1 encoder and convert all my "TV VHS" collection into CDRs, but no DVD to CDR.
