About Me: | Hello, I'm Luc
Not a pro installer, but, I understand that this is a forum for professionals and I will respect that.
I have been in data communications for over 20 years. (Pre-Internet) I have been a Cisco Systems partner for many years. My clients were large corporations with offices throughout the world. I had two offices with 10 engineers including CCIE's. In the course of business I worked with several top structured cable companies. I participated in the design of cable plants and often worked with installers in certifying the installation. Answering service calls necessitated owning data analyzers and Fluke test gear. I sold the business several years back.
While building my home I had a cable contractor run and terminate a bundled Belden product that had 2 x RG6, 2 x CAT6, and 2 x FO. All are terminated in Leviton dirty panels. One MDF and 3 IDF's. I use Cisco Gig switches with POE to support Cisco Voip. I'm all Mac with AirPort Extreme WiFi.
Control gear: I designed and implemented a Lutron Homeworks Interactive system with 3 panels for RPM modules. Speced' all the components, keypad layout (Vario & Seetouch), engraving, and programed the HWI processor. A licensed electrician ran the control and voltage cable and termination to the RMP's I have a Crestron controller with a couple of CT1000 (I think) wall screens. I hade a PAD-8 controlling audio to in room Paradyne ceiling speakers. Ai also had a Crestron RF touch remote. I farmed out the Crestron programming to Pepper Dash on the east coast. I say had, because Crestron requires a forklift upgrade with any new A/V technologies. IMO, great for professional installers, bad for homeowners. I tossed the Pad-8 and put in RedEye PRO.
I have completed all the RedEye Pro programming, with the exception to the Lutron HWI interface and a 3 x 5 audio matrix switch.
Why am I here? I found ya'll looking for knowledge on running audio over RG6. I found some great stuff. Thanks. I'm also looking for some direction with RedEye RS232 scripts. I found an Impact Acoustics 3 x 5 Matrix switch that switches 3 x 2 ch audio, component video, and toslink to 5 zones.
