New UCommand model remote
Crisp Solutions will soon be introducing a brand new model into their UCommand family of universal remote controls - the 525. Although the UC525 is based on the same capabilities as the UC515 model, instead of featuring only an LCD touchscreen for operation, the UC525 includes both touchscreen display and a large number of "real" buttons.

The UC525 will control a full 8 devices containing up to 28 buttons each. The LCD display features 21 LCD squares with selectable labels, 7 device hard buttons, 8 dedicated hard buttons for component selection, a backlight button, plus four other hard buttons for remote configuration. With full learning and macro capabilities, the UCommand can be customized to operate practically any home theater system with ease. As with all other UCommand models, the UC525 will feature excellent screen and button backlighting, compliments of the blue electroluminescent (EL) panel. The UC525's backlight will even automatically activate when ambient lighting conditions are low, thanks to a built-in light sensor now located at the top of the remote rather than behind the LCD screen.

With a sleek, ergonomic design and high-quality construction, I was quite impressed with the UC525. It features the same quick response times as the 515 model, but the new narrower design, hard buttons and fantastic backlighting make it a great upgrade. Although an exact release date has yet to be announced, we expect the UC525 this spring at a suggested retail price of $149. If you'd like to read about the other features on the UCommand 515 - and thus 525 - be sure to check our complete review.
