New Learning Remote
Later this spring Marantz will be releasing the new RC-1200 learning remote control. Essentially picked up from one of their receiver models, the RC-1200 is approximately 8x3x1.5 and offers complete control of a home theater system with versatile jog wheel, backlit LCD display and keypad. Pre-programmed only with Marantz devices, the RC-1200 is designed with a large non-volatile memory capacity to learn the codes from every remote in your home theater. Marantz offered a sneak preview of their forthcoming flagship receiver, the SR-14EX. Continuing on the tradition of the SR-18, the SR-14EX will include THX Surround EX compatibility for playback of Dolby Digital Surround-EX encoded DVDs. "EX" offers a center rear channel, providing a more seamless 360 degree sound stage. The SR-14EX will offer high-power output on all six amplified channels. The receiver will ship with the popular RC5000 remote control. Further specifications and pricing will be available closer to its expected availability date of June 2000.

Two New CD Recorders
The new DR-6050 and DR-6000 CD recorders offer high-quality recording at 2X onto CD-R or CD-RW discs. The new Digital Recording Level feature compensates for the varying volume levels of different digital sources and records them at the same level with no degradation in audio quality. The DR-6050 utilizes dual-trays to make CD-to-CD dubbing effortless with single-touch control. The DR-6000 includes a number of refinements for true high-end audiophile-quality sonic performance, such as an AK5351 D/A converter and Marantz’s exclusive HDAM fully discrete copper-shielded output stage. The DR-6050 carries a retail price of $749.99 and is available now, the DR-6000 will be available in March 2000 for $699.99.

Audio comes from a built-in 120 watt amplifier that provides up to 20 watts each to 6 channels. The HD-6400W includes HD component video, DVD component video, S-Video, composite and SVGA input for connection to a wide variety of devices. A set of side-mounted A/V jacks allow for easy connection to a camcorder or game system. The HD-6400W comes equipped with the RC5000 remote. Availability and pricing have not yet been set.
