Toshiba's two new progressive scan DVD players were on display at CEDIA - the 5-disc carousel SD3755 and single disc SD3750. Both players also offer MP3 playback capabilities, 10-bit/54mHz video D/A converter, 0 IRE black levels, 24-bit/192kHz audio capability, picture zoom and full CDR and CDRW compatibility. Pricing on the new models is $249 for the single-disc version and $399 for the 5-disc carousel.

Toshiba's first home theater DLP projector is the MT5, economically priced at $3995 and will be available this November. Few details were revealed.

Showcased was a leading edge plasma display, the 50" $15,999 50HP81 with a widescreen 1366x768 pixel resolution, plus a 2000:1 contrast ratio and 500 cd/m2 brightness rating. Housed in a cabinet less than four inches deep, the 50HP81 is designed to be wall-mounted, hung from a ceiling or placed on a stand. It includes HD-compatible component video inputs, choice of viewing modes and displays native 720p images. The 50HP81 is currently available.

Toshiba's VCR lineup now includes the $149 W717 and $119 W714 VHS machines. Both incorporate the V3 chassis, with unique flying pre-amp design, 19 micron EP heads, plus icon-based on-screen programming, auto clock set and more. The W717 features VCR Plus+C3 programming, for more convenient recording of cable channels, while the W714 includes the standard VCR Plus+ system.
