Site update: If you’ve been wondering what’s keeping me busy for the past week or so, well, this is it: a new site design for Remote Central. Why did it take a week? Well, I discovered that in running this site for over two and a half years it’s grown to encompass over 1,500 HTML pages... and it took a quite a while to go through all of them. Plus, some of the more, err, seasoned pages required some updates.
What many of you will probably notice first is that the site is now wider – it’s been designed for a minimum screen resolution of 800x600. Since I’ve been using 1024x768 for well over 8 years now I don’t feel it’s an unreasonable resolution requirement, but for those of you still using 640x480 I do apologize for the horizontal scrolling. I wanted to add an additional column of information, but not by making the rest of the page narrower. One consolation is that the main text window is still the same width as before, so 640x480 users will not need to scroll back and forth simply to read a single line of text.
Although I’ve designed the site to work correctly with the current versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape, there’s bound to be something that didn’t come through perfect. So, if you spot something that looks amiss – or if you’d just like to make a comment – please be sure to email me. Otherwise, enjoy... right now I plan on resting my sore fingers – sifting through 14.8 million characters takes its' toll!
