The Comcast remote (red OK/Select button--is that what you have?) when using the built-in setup code 01877 puts 00249 on both the MyDVR and the OnDemand buttons. The remotes delivered to our house have a Comcast-installed upgrade which puts 00249 on MyDVR, and nothing on OnDemand. I suspect that the SA cable boxes don't respond to OnDemand. Where we live, however, simply entering 001 in Cable mode calls up OnDemand. If that works for you, we'll be able to program a macro onto the OnDemand button to send channel 001.

However, to return the remote to as delivered condition, the following may work, depending on how the remote was setup at Comcast.

1) Press Setup until 2 blinks
2) Enter 977
I expect the remote will blink 4 times.

Finally, if the 977 command doesn't make A, B, and C work,
A is 00117
B is 00058
C is 00054

Edited to fix typo.

Thanks 3FG
The 977 didn't work. It apparently cleared out all of the codes in the remote. It doesn't work at all now. It's just a paper weight.

Thanks again

No it doesn't clear out all the codes in the remote. Instead it copies saved information from an archive area of memory to the standard location where setup codes, keymove, and macros are stored. As a user, you can't do anything that erases the IR codes.

Evidently the archive area had garbage in it.

There are two levels of reset for these remotes. The more benign is 980, and 981 will take the remote to exactly as it came from the factory, including the default setup codes.

1) Press Setup until 2 blinks
2) Enter 981
The remote should blink 4 times.

1) Press Setup until 2 blinks
2) Enter 982
The remote should blink 4 times. If it blinks twice, repeat 1 and 2 and it should now blink 4 times. This unlocks the setup code for the Cable device.

Assign setup code 01877 (00877) to the Cable device. Now the remote should control the SA box.

I did what you said and it is working again. I think all of the buttons are working except the A button. I got the B and C buttons working. The A button accepts the code of 00177 but it doesn't function my Scientific Atlanta box. The On Demand button opens the My Dvr ...but I can live with that. If We can just get the A button working then I can record again.

Thanks for taking time out of your day to help me. And sorry I got a little sarcastic in my last post...paper weight and all.

Ah, I wrote the number wrong-- it is 00117 for A.

Did you try entering channel number 001? If that gives you OnDemand, you can enter a macro to send that combination.

Press Setup until 2 blinks
Enter 995
Tap the OnDemand button
Enter 001
Press Setup until 2 blinks

Another possibility is to use "1" followed by "Enter"

Just registered to say Thank you. Comcast were of no help.
Searched and found this page.

Just completed these steps:
1) 977 code steps above

2) Press Setup until 2 blinks
Enter 981
The remote should blink 4 times.

3) Press Setup until 2 blinks
Enter 982
The remote should blink 4 times. If it blinks twice, repeat 1 and 2 and it should now blink 4 times. This unlocks the setup code for the Cable device.

PIP was working earlier, but has stopped now. I dont get any option when I click on PIP button.
I have LG 42LD450 TV.
I have a comcast RED ok/select button remote and Scientific Atlanta HD DVR box.

Can you please help me to set up PIP again?

TIA.

I don't understand.
1)Why did you do the 977, 980, 981 commands? What problem were you trying to fix?

2) LG lists the IR codes in their manuals, and it appears that these TVs don't offer a PIP function. What function do you want the PIP button to do?

I was trying to setup A,B,C buttons which were not working earlier (or may be I didn't know how to use it, but I know now)
Now they are working fine.

Before these steps, I could use the PIP on my comcast remote. When I pressed [PIP] on/off, the smaller window would pop up on TV and I was able to use rest of the PIP buttons to control the smaller window.

But now I am unable to do that.
Nothing happens now, when I click the on-off button.

I'll assume that you're using a Scientific Atlanta box. It has PIP capability, while I believe that the LG does not.

So using setup code 00877 or 01877 on the Cable button, the following EFCs may work:

PIP On/Off 00180
PIP Swap 00187
PIP Move 00183
PIP Ch + 00121
PIP Ch - 00181

I used 01877. I am using a Scientific Atlanta HD DVR box.

Now I should just follow these steps right? (Replace Step 4 and 5 with new codes and PIP buttons)

1) Press Setup until 2 blinks
2) Enter 994 (2 blinks)
3) Tap Setup
4) Enter 00249
5) Tap OnDemand
The remote should blink twice.

Edit: Just wanted to let you know that it worked. Thanks a lot for your help.

So my remote has suddenly stopped working. The cable button flashes and I checked with my camera and it is sending signal. I have new batteries inserted and tried the reset codes listed at the beginning of this thread. Is there any other options? Its the grey comcast remote with red ok/select button and a black cisco hd cable box. TIA

If it is sending a signal, then either the signal is wrong (wrong setup code) or the component(s) aren't responding correctly.

Do you have more than one component to control? Do none of them work? Also, make sure that you're using the correct setup codes. If you're not sure which codes are correct, post a list of the components you have.
