Hello all,

This thread is amazing and everyone seems to have all of the answers. I've just registered because I'm hoping that someone will have the answer for my situation too! I read through the thread as best I could, but this is all very new to me and I'm smart enough to know better than to try things before I actually understand them!

So here is my situation...

I have a Cisco RNG150 box.

I have the gray xfinity remote with the red ok/select button.

I just purchase a Samsung TV and used code 10812 to program the remote to my tv (works great). EXCEPT. The exit button. No bueno.

Interestingly, my previous TV was an old Symphonic TV (that the Comcast people set up when they installed everything). The exit button never worked for that TV either, but I thought it was no big deal and could manage without it. Plus I thought maybe it had something to do with the tv being from yesteryear. But when the new TV has the same issue today, I knew it was something to investigate. And a 5 minute google search brought me here, where I'm seeing that there are answers to be found.

I saw post #97 but wasn't sure if my situation matches that one.

Any help would be very appreciated :) :) :)

Post #97 refers to controlling the cable box, while you issue is with the TV.

Pretty much all Samsung TVs use EFC 00088 for Exit (when the setup code is 10812).  Perhaps your remote has had some other EFC or macro assigned to Exit.
To clear a keymove and return it to normal:
1) Press TV
2) Press Setup until 2 blinks
3) Enter 994 (2 blinks)
3) Press Exit
4) Press Exit again
The remote should blink twice.

To clear a macro:
1) Press Setup until 2 blinks
2) Enter 995 (2 blinks)1)
3) Press Exit
4) Press Setup until 2 blinks

Thank you for the speedy reply. I tried both things and, unfortunately, neither worked.

I'm not sure if this helps, but I did a little experiment...I have another Samsung and another identical remote in my family room. That other remote has always been linked to a Samsung and worked fine from day 1. I brought it into the bedroom (where this new TV is) and it worked right away with the "in question" Cisco box and Samsung TV. (The "Exit" button worked fine.)

I then took the original "broken Exit" remote into the family room and tried it on the other Samsung TV (there is a Cisco DVR model RNG200N in that room). And the remote in question had the same "Exit" button issue out there too.

So I'm not sure what to do now? The broken remote is broken with two different Samsung TVs and two different Cisco boxes. And the functioning remote works fine in both locations.

Has there ever been a situation where there's no way to fix a remote and you just need to deal with calling Comcast to have them send a new one? From what other's have posted, I'm leery of dealing with them directly since it tends to result in long conversations that go in circles. But I'm stumped if there's anything else I can do (other than carry the one working remote from room to room as I go to bed each night haha).

Thanks again!

I'd say it is highly likely that the remote is broken.  I'd get Comcast to replace it.  If you don't want to deal with Comcast, search eBay.  Typically you can buy a new one for $6, shipped.  But I expect Comcast will replace it.

Comcast will replace a broken remote at no cost. Either call them and they'll send a new one or go to a local office and pick one up.

Assuming you're using 01982 for cable, try EFC 39877

What is EFC? I have my remote working great except for the exit button.

3FG...thank you, thank you, thank you! After a mind numbing amount of time in chat with Comcast I had some functions restored on my remote but could not access my recordings or on demand. They insisted my issue was resolved and ended the chat. I searched their forums for help and found no solutions. I turned to google which directed me to this thread, post 56. Within minutes of reading your post I had a fully functioning remote again! I so appreciate that your instructions were clear and simple!

I tried that and got all the right blinks, but my cable box still won't turn on.

I have an LG TV, Motorola box, and a silver xfinity remote with a red ok button. The remote controls the TV just fine.

Hi,
I have a Silver remote with a red "ok" button for my comcast remote. The remote just stopped working. I read thru this thread and may have missed something. Can anyone help? The remote will power off the TV and adjust the volume, but that's it. For anything else the CBL key just flashes rapidly when I push a button.
Any suggestions?

Spent 2 hours on the phone today with Comcast because the remote they gave me with the Motorola digital box DCT700 wouldn't work. Comcast never resolved the problem and suggested I bring back the new equipment for an exchange? Followed your instructions and in 5 minutes had the remote working. Followed your instructions and the CBL setup code 01376 worked just fine. Thanks.

A lot of great, helpful information....Thanks!
I have a issue that I did not see any other poster reference.
I had an issue with my xfinity cablebox accessing On Demand with customer support deciding I needed to swap out the box for another. The new (much smaller box) is a DCT700. They also swapped out the remote for an (identical) xfinity silver w/red button. The issue is this: when I use the remote to access the dct700 (to change channels, access OnDemand, etc.), I must point the remote directly at the box. With the old box/remote I only needed to point the remote in the general direction of the box. I read a vague reference on another site regarding remote sending IR vs RF signals causing similar issues but no solutions. Any ideas as how to not needing to point directly at box?
Oh! One other thing that is different with new equip, when I push any button on remote the "Cable" button flashes 4 times....with every button push.
Thanks.....
