Wow - I'm bewildered at the extent of this site!

I've just bought an old AV receiver, no remote of course, and came by google to this site which listed 'Pronto codes' for the model.

But then I try to work out what remote to buy to plug those codes in?

Have I missed the start page on this site? Sorry if so, just point me in the right direction!

(Naturally I'm looking for a cheap way-in to all this ... it's my first 'day'!)

Thanks.

btw. I did try FAQ pages etc. but then decided to ask!

If your goal is to control this receiver, I suggested that you search for the original remote by model number or look on eBay.

if you are looking for system control, what is your level of experience? Many DIY’s enjoy Harmony.

Thanks for quick replies!

Right, so searching on 'Harmony' and my device [Cambridge Audio Azur 540r] I see someone on this site recommended a Logitech Harmony 525 in the past - which I've found on ebay too. Can I plug in 'hex codes'? I'm using the box, but cannot adjust speaker delays etc.

I know this is old gear, but this is my first start in surround sound - only used stereo hi-fi's to date.

Getting this going will set up my DIY cabinets/drivers.

Then I can save up for a nice *new* AV - in about a year I hope.

Anyway, will it work do you think?

Thanks everyone - it'll make my system 'harmonise'! (I guess).

No, you can not enter hex into Harmony yourself, you can send it to Logitech, and they might enter for you. All harmony use the same program, so get current model, remotes from ebay probably have keys that no longer work, or soon won't work.

Oh, seems like it's too difficult then!

I'll keep a lookout on ebay for right remote, but none at moment.

Stereo it remains!

Thanks for your time and knowledge edmund and buzz.
