Just use the one from the cable company.
These high end remotes are over rated! Most buy them are for show so the owner can walk around with their wine glass and have the remote in the other hand. It is called laziness.

Ok, now which one to get. Tired of URC and won't touch the swindlers that don't provide software.

lol, Then why bother coming to Remote Central, at all?

For me, it's like model building. A tinkering adventure.

I recently got a radio controlled ceiling fan with dimmable lighting. It would be fun to have my remote control that, instead of the cheap plastic disc that came with it.

Naw you are right though, there's something to the simple life. Until you need a hobby for the Winter Season.

mdeligny,

If you only watch TV or don't mind flipping through a pile of remotes, don't purchase anything. URC is up front about the software restriction, it is not for you. Harmony encourages DIY. You might also be interested in one of the Global Caché partners.

I agree with the OP. You can make most cable remotes do it all. No need to spend a dime.
