I understand I cannot put 2 Yamaha receivers next to each other on my rack because the 2 remotes will operate both receivers (even different models) messing up my system and there is no solution (even though Amazon has very good deal on RX-V675 that expires at midnight Nov 27). Question if i buy a different brand receiver like onkyo, pioneer, sony etc will the different brand remote mess with my existing Yamaha? am i completely safe if i put them within 12-18" of each other. thank you

Most Yamaha receivers two sets of remote codes, called id1 and id2.  The 675 supports both modes.  I imagine that the Yamaha remote can be set up to send either set.  If you use a universal remote, it needs to be computer programmable.

No other brand will cross interfere with a Yamaha receiver.

Thanks 3FG, Yamaha replied I renamed one Yamaha receiver/amp & remote ID2 no conflict. The other Yamaha Receiver gives error message when i point and push button w/wrong remote. Brilliant.

LOL, that is brilliant! What's the point of having multiple remote IDs if you're simply going to throw an error message when receiving the wrong ID?
