The purpose of this thread is to ask if anyone has any recommendations for a simple remote for as few as 3 components in a bedroom but with backlighting and learning functionality.

Look at the URC R5 [Link: universalremote.com]That has learning and backlit buttons all for 39.99 Then if wanted you can go up from there...R7, RF10, RF20, RF30, URC100, URC200, URC300 They should have what you want..39.99-and up

Thanks, Elsewhere on this forum, someone told me the R5 doesn't have backlighting but the R7 does. Do you know for sure the R5 has backlighting?

Here is the info from the R5 features where it states backlit buttons and display. since there is no display, there must be no backlit buttons.....Damn typo's and misinformation

Well, here's one thing... the R7 has a big LIGHT button at the bottom of the keypad. The R5... no button. :-)
And really, without backlighting as an up-sell feature on the R7, the only difference between it and the R5 would be 2 devices.
