What I'm after is a remote that can control a Denon 4311CI that is in another room (the 4311 has RS-232 and Ethernet interfaces, as well as IR) but that not only sends it signals, but can receive feedback as well. In particular the volume level.

Is such a thing available, or perhaps more accurately, available at a price that isn't far more than the receiver itself?

Thanks.

RTI T2Cs+ and an XP3 with the correct RTI Driver for the AVR series. I have never used it but if RTI built it you know that it works.

T2cs+ $699 or even the t2c+ $899
XP3 $499 processor/cpu/base station/transceiver
or if you want to splurge an XP6/ZM24 for $750

Plus any flashers that you would need.

Plus Programming $$

or perhaps check out the Pro Control by RTI combo <$1000

Then there are certain URC models, not sure of the pricing

Didn't know that two way remotes were so pricey. While I'm willing to spend some money, that is out of my league. I'm not really willing to spend a grand to control a device that only cost $1300. Seems a little silly, particularly given that if push comes to shove a monitor and an HDMI cable can do the job for feedback.

Pro control is rti's smaller sister company. They do 2way remotes that are much cheaper because they are designed for single room solutions not so much whole house control.

They have a 2way denon interface. Dont have pricing in front of me.

Denon has an App that is free.

And BTW, the suggestions that were recomended filled all your criteria in the original post, to turn around and say that spending around $1k for a control solution for a $1,300 receiever was just too much money was kind of silly.

It's capable of controlling much more than just a receiver: lights, shades, A/C, TV, iPod, hot tub, sprinklers, even a cable box and a BluRay player. The fact that you aren't going to be using it to it's full potential doesn't effect the price of the remote systems, but should keep the programming costs down.

Instead of just saying you didn't want to spend more than your receiver, you should have posted a more realistic budget, that way we can make suggestions that fit your needs.

+1

To add to this, the solution you are looking for is a control system, not a remote control. Its price in relation to the receiver is moot. A control system should honestly be one of the more pricey items in your system, as it is the ONLY interface you have to control everything. The old adage of you get what you pay for is true, and a cheap solution does not give you the proper level of control you are looking for. People too often look at a universal remote as just a version of the remote that came with the equipment that can control everything in the system on one piece, rather then separate. A control system is so much more, and so vital to the usage of the system. Once you view it as what it should be, it is a little easier to spend the extra money. I am not saying you have to spend it, but hoping to point out some of the reasons why these things cost what they do.

You are spot on, spending $1000 to accomplish what you are looking for is perfectly ridiculous. The demeaning responses you recieved are from nothing but a bunch of JACKWAGONS that feel the need to troll this site and jump up on their soap boxes in a feeble effort to make themselves look intelligent and at the same time justify spending $ on things that Apple and many others offer for free now.

Check out the apple TV and an itouch (if u dont have an iphone already). you will be amazed at the cool things you can do for whole home audio and video with their Airplay technology. EVERYTHING is 2way feedback - you can see whats playing, volume levels etc. you would just leave your denon set at a good level and then control the volume using the apple controls. works like a charm - apple TV $100. ipod touch $150. and all via wifi so you can control it from your yard if you wish! Also think if you have company over that own an itouch or iphone. They can play whatever audio or video they have on their devices too without even having to get up, just press a button on their device and they take over, really cool stuff.

There is also a really cool app offered by Griffin (i'm sure theres many out there now but i way just checking this one out) to use your iphone, ipad, itouch etc as a complete universal. it sends blue tooth commands to a $50 module which then translates the blue tooth to IR for your gear to pick up on.

Stealth X, you are an idiot. Not one of your solutions would fit the OPs request.
You also stated that many others are offering free solutions to what us "JACKWAGONS" troll on and charge for, yet you showed no example that was free, like I did. Everyone with the exception of you, made suggestions that fit the OPs criteria.

The only Troll I see here is you.
