Hey everyone,

Using a Sony CAV-CVS12ES in a job this christmas season.

Wondering if anyone has any leads to the protocol used to
control this device.

Any help greatly appreciated. Really hoping to be able to use
RS-232 and not IR.

It's not too bad. Except for the checksum.
9600 8-n-1

Each string is 7 HEX bytes long:
02 04 F4 40

ZONE
00 =Zone 1
01 =Zone 2
02 =Zone 3
03 =Zone 4
.....
0B =Zone 12
FF =ALL Zones

SOURCE
00 =Source Off
01 =Source 1
02 =Source 2
03 =Source 3
.....
0C =Source 12

CHECKSUM
100h - the sum of 04+F4+40+ZONE+SOURCE

For example, to switch source 1 into zone 1 the string would be
02 04 F4 40 00 01 C7

Thanks a ton for the quick response. Turns out we don't have the gender changer needed to implement this today, but it will be good to be able to add it into the programming.

Any one have success on controlling this via ir. I have tried multiple ir extenders to this unit and none have been able to read the codes. Does this unit even power the extenders. I don't mind trying to control this via rs232 if anyone has a profile for urc mrx1 codes
