I have never seen this asked on here.

Are there any discrete ON/OFF commands for house code A, device codes 1-16? Why are there discrete dim and bright commands, but no discrete ON/OFF commands?

Actually I would be perfectly happy with a discrete OFF command as I use the bright button as my on/bright button.

X-10 only works with discrete codes. Any CCF with X-10 will have seperate on/off codes. The housecode is selected by the Ir543, not the Pronto.

Sorry,

You misinterpreted my post. You must be a Pronto owner =)

What I meant by discrete in this case is discrete to the device number. For example, there are dim and bright commands which only affect a single device code such as 3. But to issue an on/off for device 3 you have to make a macro, 3 then on/off. Why aren't their "device specific" ons and offs?

That's the way X-10 works. I don't see any reason you would want it any other way. Just program your "button" to have a "3" than "on" or
"off" ,"bright" or "dim". One thing you probally didn't know is you can choose several units before you issue the on ,off, dim or bright command. You could have a button that turns all lights on and it could look like this:
1
2
3
4
5
on
Most people would program it with on's after each unit code, but thats not needed. You could also have buttons for each light, choose a few, and turn them all on or off at once.

Dim and brights are just like the on and off's in thay they are not unit specific. You can also dim and bright several lights by chossing the unit first. If yours works different, e-mail the CCF to remote central because you might have some cool codes, but i don't think so!

Once again, I don't quite think you are following me.

Statement 1) All dim and bright hex codes ARE different for each device code (came from quick-x10 file)

Statement 2) No matter what the previous state of the system(meaning which device was last issued a command) if I hit the dim button for device 3, that device and ONLY that device dims. Then if I immediately hit the dim for device 4, device 4 dims, not device 3 as would be expected if the codes were not device specific.

Am I missing something here?? As far as I can tell, all of my dim and bright buttons are device code specific and have ALWAYS operated that way. I can actually use my brightness button as a discrete on because no matter what, if I touch the brightness button for a specific device, THAT device comes on and NO others.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong but everything points to this conclusion.

See the Thread I posted on Direct X-10 codes. It has modified IR codes that I made to do direct X-10 On/Off. This will save time programing buttons and allow multiple on or offs to be transmitted like on dims.
