I am just starting in this array of mystical language but maybe you can explain to me the difference between a IR543 and the X10 4040 it seems to be the same product or something, I am attempting to control a single x10 module with a HTM SL9000 remote and I am stuck in the middle not knowing which one of the two above listed products I need.

Their both the same controller. The #IR543 is the controllers actual model #number, and 4040 is Smarthome.com 's item #number. Smarthome gives their products item numbers instead of listing the model #numbers. But it's cheaper at www.worthdist.com just go there and do a search for IR543.
