Dears,

I purchased the Lutron Qrafik Eye QS along with the QSE-IO module.

I would like to control the shutters along with the projection screen in my living room using the QSE-IO, where I need to control them separately (Open, Close, Up, Down & stop) from the shade control in the Grafik Eye QS.

The problem is that I read the user manual along with technical specs and installation guide but none of them helped me how to do the wiring and the configuration (Dip switch and the programing).

My shutter is 220 volts AC with 0.5 Amps direct motor stops when you disconnect power.
And the screen is 12 volts DC over-ride 3 terminals (Up, Down and stop).

Kindly help me ASAP since I’m holding the room only for this function, and I already disconnected the power for that purpose.

There is one of the settings made using the dip switches that gives two shade controls, one with up, down & stop and one with up & down. Set the dip switches to this setting. You MUST use a flywheel diode or contact suppression unit or interface unit otherwise your relay contacts in the QSE-IO will be very short lived!
If you want the output to run from a key press on a QS keypad and you have a base unit without shading (and no shading controls) then you could set the button on the keypad as an unused scene (such as scene 10) even if the base unit only has 4 scene controls. You can then set the QSE-IO to trigger a relay output for a scene press and within the software set the scene to not make any changes to the other zones. It is a work around but not ideal. If you do this it may be worth investing in a CD4 module to make sure the signal to the three wire control does not get mixed up! My suggestion is go for shade control (including keypads) and use the 3+2 option.

Also, Remember the QSE-IO is not as flexible as many make out. The outputs follow the scenes in blocks of five and cannot be reconfigured. The inputs do the same when set in scene mode so you cannot have the five inputs selecting scenes 3, 6, 7, 9 & 10 so think a bit more carefully about your scene number allocation prior to programming it all. The QSE-IO does not have any programming it simply follows the information given to it on the data bus and set by the DIP switches. And one final point... It uses two or three module power units so if you already have a remote keypad you may need to get yourself an external power supply! Good luck!

The QSE-IO also has some more advanced functionality called "Shade Output Mode". In this you can utilize your shade columns on the GRAFIK Eye QS to control the corresponding outputs on the QSE-IO. So for instance you can link output 1 on the QSE-IO to Shade Column 1 Open button on the GRAFIK Eye QS.

This, unfortunately, is not explained in the manual, but if you call Lutron's Tech Support (which is 24 hours) they can walk you through the steps. This functionality is used many times to interface the GRAFIK Eye with non-Lutron shades.

I hope this helps!
