A customer has a Home theatre room, with (5) Lutron switches for the lighting. To give her the ability to have control of thre lighting with an MX-700, what do i need?

Do I REALLY need (5) of these?

Then the IR534 and a controller, correct?

I saw HTA had a starter kit for $99. Looked like a pretty good deal. Looks like it would actually be more cost effective to get 5 "starter" kits, rather than 5 individual switches. That way I'll have 4 extra 543's and controller.

Am I seeing this right?

So shes going to be looking at about $350 in parts alone, at my cost, correct? Plus labor and retail pricing?

No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.

We give a 10% discount on order of 5 switches or more; email me. Five starter kits would not be cost affective unless you needed the IR543 for other rooms.

Not cost effective for THIS job, no. But then i have 4 more 543's for MY house:)

Anyway, am I correct on the parts list? 5 switches, a 543, and a controller?

And just to make aure Im not missing anything. the swithches she has have the sloder on the side, that allows a pre-set dim level, when the switch is turned on. They are Decora style. I removed the wall plates, and saw no signs of X-10 technology, etc. Can i assume if it WAS powerline capable, it would have a symbol on there somewhere? (As Im not THAT familiar with anything but x-10 branded products)

Thanjs

If it had a slider on the side, it was not X10, sounds like a Leviton standard dimmer.

Your basic, parts are fine, but you need to review X10 technology before you do this job. You may end up having to filter for noise and having to add a coupler repeater. We sell to a lot of custom installers and I can't think of any of them that would do a job without a coupler repeater. It just is not worth the risk to you, having to deal with an unreliable system and an unhappy customer. When doing this for money either do it right, or pass on the job.

Review the articles on noise and coupling located here: [Link: act-solutions.com]

You could also look at the Lutron IR controlled systems, like the spacer system.
