Liquid....?

You need 4 lamp modules, an X-10 transmitter module, and an IR 543 IR to X-10 interface.

Now, if Chris C. replies it may be more elaborate than this. Contact closures, motion sensors, HAL 2000 voice interface etc. :)

Sorry Chris, just poking a little fun. Don't sic Hal on me. "Open the garage door Hal............"

LOL

Tom,
My question to you is what is the "X-10 transmitter module" for? All that is needed to control the 4 lamp modules with the Pronto would be an IR543 or 4040 (same part different number).

The answers I give are, in my mind, appropriate to the questions that are asked! If someone wants to take it to the "next" level, I try to give my input on the subject. Sometimes that goal is accomplished with unconventional things like magnetic switches, motion sensors and so on. If the question is a simple one, as this on is, I answer it with the simplest and CORRECT answers. I usually will try to enlighten new users on the advanced possibilities of X-10 so they can judge for themselves how far they want to take their X-10 hobby.

Liquid,
Here is a link to “The Basics of X-10”. I wrote this for newbies like yourself. Good luck!

Liquid,

I don't know what you need it for either. I was thinking of one thing and typing another. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Obviously you would only need the 543 and the lamp modules. Sorry, brain fart early in the morning.

Chris,

Lighten up. People make mistakes now and again. I only said what I said because you are the X-10 guru and have the ultimate set up that anyone would be envious of. It was just a shout out(albiet somewhat of a dig) as to your knowledge. I thought the HAL quote was pretty funny.

I realize that you give CORRECT advice to the question asked(as I have used some). Didn't mean to offend. I will now retire the thread to your infinite knowledge.

Tom
