OK, I have another wall switch question for you guys. In my bathroom there is a light switch that controls the light AND a fan. I can disconnect the fan, but I'd like to use a wall switch to control this function. Can I use the standard Powerhouse lightswitch module for this, or do I need one of the more heavy duty ones for flourescent lights? Thanks guys.

Ken,

Did you want to control the fan/light together as it is presently wired or separately?

Together, as it is presently. I realized after I wrote the question that wasn't clear. Thanks.

Ken,

Try this link. It should handle the load of your fan/light with no problem.

Hope this helps!

Any "relay" type switch would work fine for you. You could probably get by using a standard X-10 switch although you would not want to use the dimming abilities as it would probably burn up the fan after a while. Another suggestion is to add a switch on the wall to control the fan separate. This would allow you to use just the light for say late night trips to the bathroom. You could use a Hawkeye to trigger the light. If the fan is not loud this would not matter but I know most a fairly noisy...especially late at night. Installing an additional switch is not hard is the single switch has both wires. If the light you have is a combo unit and has only one set of wires, you kind of stuck.

Anyway, sorry to drag on, the moral of the story is you can use any switch although the type for florescent lights would be the best.
