XPPF Filters are the Plug-in filters, I believe. Look at these links, but PLEASE make sure it's what you're looking for before you order.

Just wondering if I might be better off with a coupler/amplifier? Would the amplifier overcome the noise problem better than just a filter?

Doug,
That may help but the amplifier/coupler is a lot more $ then the filter is. If you are wanting to improve the overall performance of the X-10, a coupler with amplification is the way. If the $ is not a factor, get the coupler. If $ is a factor, try the filter. You wouldn't be wasting your $ if you purchased the amplifier/coupler but may with the filter!

Chris,

Does the amplifier increase the signal on the phase (eg: X) it receives the X10 signal on?
Or just when it passes it on to the other Phases (Y,Z)?

As far as I know, it amplifies the signal on both phases. I too have questioned how it can work. In my mind, if it were amplifying the signal them repeating it, it would cause collusion problems. Sorry I can't give you a good answer. I will research it though. I can tell you from experience that the amplified coupler will solve many X-10 problems and improve the signal. If you are having completion problems, the amplified coupler will more than likely give you a 100% success rate.

Instigated from the question by Korey, I did some research and figured you would be interested to know. The amplified coupler works by amplifying and resending the X-10 signal over BOTH phases of your home. This is possible because a detection circuit causes a repeated signal to be ignored. Pretty cool, you think?

BTW, If your home has three, it would do all three. Most that I know of only have two.

Aw what the heck - it's only money. I ordered the amplifier/coupler today. Anxious to see how it works. Thanks everyone for the help.

Okay - I got the Leviton 6201 today and installed it per the instructions. Still having the same problem with one switch that refuses to turn on with an X-10 command, but will turn off. I would seem to still have a noise problem from the computer. Do I still have to look into a noise block?
