Twice when wondering where and order from X10.com was I called and was told my order wasn't on their computer and so was probably cancelled or lost. I was advised to simpy reorder.
On each reorder, I included a message "This is a REPLACEMENT order for #123456. If #123456 is still in your system, CANCEL IT!"
Shortly after the first reorder, I got an email stating my first (supposedly cancelled) order was being processed and would be shipped shortly. I had to call them immediately and cancelled it.
The second time this happened I never got notified of the original order. My replacement order arrived quickly. Several days later my original (supposedly cancelled) order arrived, requiring me to pay shipping to send it back to them. X-10.com owes me $4.32, dammit! Comments added to orders apparently never get read. Their computer system sucks at keeping track of orders. The "free bonus" stuff they try and seduce you with to order, valued at "hundreds" of dollars is cheap crap made in china. Most of it works, but none of it is worth the supposed value they claim. If you get it "free", fine. Don't pay their regular price for any of it. A Hawkeye, for example, is $.15 worth of plastic and $1 worth of electronics, and $.25 worth of chinese slave labor. Buyer beware.

So far I've had no problem with X10 US nor Canada. I ordered the FireCracker Kit from US and it arrived in about 2 weeks no problem. Same thing when I ordered stuff from X10 Canada, arrived fairly quickly.

I had a situation where I ordered their 8-N-1 remote and got a free socket rocket. I waited over a week for it. Finally I called and got a similar story as David, but they apparently had my order but had never closed it out. I told them I was very dissapointed and to go ahead and cancel my order and credit my credit card. Since I already purchased the One4All Cinema 6(which I love!!) I did not need it.
Later that day I recieved an e-mail invoice with a $0.00 charge for all my stuff. Two days later, I got my remote and socket rocket. They gave 'em to me free because of their royal screw-up. I think this is pretty cool.
BTW if anyone wants an 8-N-1 remote real cheap....

Simon; would you post the Canadian X-10 site or the address you used to get X-10 stuff in Canada? Being a Canuk this would be useful. Thanks in advance Scott...

Canada X10 information: Web site: [Link: x10.com]The guy that I normally talk to is named Everett Stewart (extension 25). He's a nice guy and he'd give you free stuff when you order more stuff. The shipping is also pretty fast (I got my stuff within 3-4 days). Simon

Well, I love their prices but they do take a long time to send out the stuff. Usually it takes them 4-5 days to ship out my orders then it takes an additional 5 days or so to get to me in California. But, I am saving a lot of money buying from them.

I have ordered from x-10 several times. I have waited up to 4 MONTHS for my complete order to arrive. Basically, you have to hit it right--they get the stuff by containerized shipping from China, and if they are caught short, it is literally on a slow boat FROM China.
Would I order again? Definitely. The prices and freebies are to good to resist, and once you get the stuff, with rare exceptions (defective and replaceable) it works.

I've ordered probably about $500 in stuff from X-10.com. I've always received my orders promptly, and everything works pretty much as expected (My lamps flicker every so often, but they have built-in dimming that may be getting in the way).
I wish their remotes were more featureful, but that's about it. I do kinda wish that they offered trade-ins ... I have about 5 remotes of theirs that I'm just storing in a closet.
A word of advice ... wait for their 12% off deals, or when they offer a toss-in deal that you really want. Their prices are very fluid, and it's worth waiting. Some of those toss-in deals are one with EACH ITEM, rather than one per order, so watch carefully.

Let me throw my 2 cents in. I ordered the $6.00 promo and it took less than 5 days.
Way to go X-10!

I ordered the $6 promo, and it took more than 2 months and half a dozen phone calls before I received it.
