I have a Denon AVR3803 and I have hooked it up to my RTI T2 IRF6 controller. I was wonder how to write an RS232 string for the receiver. I have the codes but i have never written an RS232 String before. The RS232 Protocols on their website have terrible instructions. Thanks for you help.

The serial protocol for Denon's AVR-5803 is really quite simple. The AVR-3803 is likely the same. For power on, in the string field type "PWRON\r" without the quotes. For power off, "PWSTANDBY\r". Make sure you set the communication settings for the Denon under Edit Button Properties.

You might need a null modem interface or crossover cable between the CM232 and the RS232 port on the Denon

For some strange reason it is still not working. I have the Baud at 9600, parity at none, data bits at 8, stop bits at 1, and i have the ID code in the theater touch software set to code 0, I have the IRF6 set to code 0, i plugged the CM232 module into output 1, set the output in the theater touch program to output 1, I connect the Pin 2 on the RS232 port to the tip of the stereo plug for the denon serial port, Pin 3 on RS232 to the ring for the serial port, and pin 5 on the RS232 to the sleeve on the serial port. Then I clicked on the edit button properties in the software and typed in the RS232 string "PWON\r" in the string box. I am at a loss here at what to do, Thanks for the previous help but i still need more guidance.

Do the lights blink on the side of the IRF-6 when you press the button on the T2 that corresponds to the RS232 command?

Somtimes you have to put an /x or a //x before the command for it to work just like you would with a hex command so it could be /xPWRON\r or //xPWRON\r , but this is not always the case and might not work.

Oh and I have found it much faster to test code strings with my computer using the serial port and not the remote. There are a lot of simple utilities for this that are free, such as.

I'd try swapping pins 2&3 (exactly what a null modem adaptor does), and try the string again.
