I finally found a new in box RTI U2 waterproof remote on eBay. Any tips or hints at prolonging the "waterproofness" of the remote? Any modifications I can make to it to make it last?

We are releasing the U3 remote in January that is completely sealed and uses a new wireless synching technology. It has an EPD (Electronic Paper Display) screen and battery charge can last 2-3 months with normal use. It also comes with an inductive charging dock and supports Qi charging as well. The U3 is our first remote that is completely sealed.

After looking at the remote closer, I am wondering if putting a light coat of lubricant (similar to what you use on pool equipment) on the rubber seal of the battery compartment would help in prolonging the water resistance.

Or were the issues with the remote also in the actual seal of the unit itself.
