My IR commands work if I set them to standalone, but I am unable to get them working via the hard-wired IR/RS232 port... I tried setting the frequency to 0 on a few buttons and that didn't work either...

The ir input is a stereo jack. Use tip for signal and sleeve for ground. Ring in the middle isn't used.
There should be an ir port and a 232 port.
