Hey guys.  I had a customer send me their remote saying they could not get the Touch Screen to work.  I switched the power off and let it fully charge over the weekend.  This morning I booted it up and got this...
Photobucket

After the remote booted, it went straight to the Control Panel.  The touch screen is not functioning, but the hard buttons are.  I was wondering if anyone has encountered this... I will be putting a call into RTI as soon as they open, but I thought I would ask in case anyone knew what this was.

Thank you.

I can get that screen by touching the screen while powering up from a switch off

Maybe thee is something pressing against the screen causing this??

Interesting... As far as I can tell, there is nothing on the screen.

On kind of a side note, I called RTI and after about 10 minutes of hold time, I got voicemail. Is there really that much volume going into the Tech Support, that no one can answer the phone? I understand some calls take longer than others, but how many guys do they have in Tech Support?

So I finally got a call back from RTI. The issue is from the customer either dropping something on it or pushing too hard. The screen was damaged some how, and now thinks there is something pressing on it. Since these screens are not multitouch capable, the touch screen will not work.

Glackowitz, thank you for your feedback.

I would open it up and see if there is some spilled fliud under the lip of the bezel.

May not be, and as RTI said was dropped. We have a client that had phantom button presses and we found soda under the lip and the stickiness of it was causing random button presses when the remote was used...not sure how it was happening but after we opened it found the spilt soda and cleaned it all was fine

This just happened to my phone... I think it was from condensation/moisture when going in and out from shovelling snow.  I never dropped it or got it wet.

Obviously your customer wasn't taking the remote outside (as far as you know) but the moisture/liquid got underneath the outer part of the screen and created the exact same scenario where it always thought the screen was being pressed.  Either way you'll probably have to send it back, and you'll be expecting a bill...
