This is probably just a brain fart, but I can see how you can pair up and RK1 and connecting block to issue standalone commands, but what about an RK1 and the RP1 in order to issue system macros?

I don't believe that the RP1 can accept commands via wire.
The RP1 is intended to be used as a simple way to add RF to a handheld remote.

So I have a small T2B / RP1 system where the client wants to add an RK1 to control a 2zone receiver from his master suite. I need to keep track of system flags... I guess I cannot do it without an RP6?

That is correct... The RP1 wasn't designed for that application.
If you get your gear from A*A*, I bet they still have RP6 (The RP6 has been disco'ed) units in stock and are blowing them out... just a suggestion.
