Hope someone can provide some insight. I have a T2-C which for some reason constantly freezes up and gives me a plain screen - not quite white, but staic blank. Just hapens out of the blue. It was happening a lot less a couple of months ago, but now it seems to be happening a lot more. I may have read of similar issues. Does anyone know what causes this, what has been done about it, and what it takes to repair it both cost and feasability from RTI? I really enjoy this remote - it's a shame that it stopped working like this especially since I treat it with extreme care. It's out of warranty period. I would love to try and fix it myself if anyone can provide some similar experience.

Thanks in advance,
Jimmy

RTI Installer indicates it to be a quick fix. I have opened them up and found nothing serviceable - and I am a component level tech. Many times, when sent to RTI, you get a new board. Send it in and be done with it.

Send it in and you'll probably get a new board at no charge, just be prepared to wait 12-15 business days to get it back.

This was a flaw that they discovered and will maybe fix it free
I had it happen to a few units when the T2c's first came out.

I am told it could be because of the type of Solder used on the board. It was a new type required for some law, but wasnt very good. They have since gotten better solder. Usually even if out of warranty, if RTI discovers internally that the problem was not due to neglect but on their end (manufacturing wise), they will generally do it for free. you would just have to take care of either shipping costs and/or programming to upload your program back onto the new board. I have to say, RTI is great like that. We've returned quite a few a while back for this issue, and only the "dropped" remotes got charged.

FWIW - we just sent a T2-C back and it had a pretty obvious, but small, indentation on the top right corner of the plastic right near the screen where IMO it had obviously been dropped.  They repaired it at no charge... I think they know there are manufacturing issues and may be handling things on a case by case basis.  The last thing I wanted to do was to tell my customer who had already waited 3 weeks to get his remote back that it was going to be $250-$300 for repairs...

Were all these remotes that had been replaced with good faith all within the allotted warranty period?
