I bought this remote years ago before RTI locked down access to their Designer software and cannot find the original disc that came with it. I need to reinstall to make some changes.

I tried to install the v1.12 in the Files area here, but cannot connect to my remote. Does anyone have an old copy of TTD that will work? I know the newer versions are not available, but I just need the oldest that will work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-chad

Do you mean a T2? I thought the software was no longer available after the T2+ and RP-6 came out.

I could be wrong on that, but I know I got the T2+ with the Designer software in May, 2006. Unfortunately, the dealer is no longer around.

I had installed 1.12 and could not get it to connect. When Auto Detect failed with the message "No compatible device found", I assumed the T2+ was not supported.

COM3 is the only port available under options (the rest are grayed out) but regardless of speed - Low, Med or High, it still doesn't connect. I've tried all 4 USB ports on my laptop, so I'm not sure what else to try.

The remote does go into "Computer Link" mode as soon as it's connected to the laptop, so that's a good sign.

The T2+ looks like this

The T2+ only connects via USB and requires the integration designer software to program, this is dealer only so dont ask us for anything other than where you might find another dealer in your area to help you.

The old T2 Looks Like this:

The legacy T2 only connects via rs232 and uses the free to everyone theater touch software, which you can download from this site.

You have a T2+ that uses the dealer only software. A T2 will not go into computer link mode when connected.

The dealer probably burned a copy of the software that he wasn't supposed to give out, for you. Unfortunatly, there's not much you can do, except find another dealer in your area to come program it for you.

Sorry, I was out of town for a few days and wasn't able to check this thread.

It's funny, you guys really must think all end users are morons if you think they don't even know what remote they own.  lol

I believe this points out a very real flaw in RTI's end user support.  It's not realistic to expect a retailer will be able to service needs a month from now, let alone a few years from now.  What is an end user to do?

Some suggested contacting another dealer in the area, to which I'll reply "are you crazy"?  Why would I want to get pinched again for something that should (and in my case, did) come with the remote?

Every time I hop into the RTI area here, I get frustrated all over again by the attitudes of some who think they, and they alone, are capable of programming and getting the most out of these remotes.  It's not rocket science, it's elitism and egos getting in the way of good customer support.

I really do appreciate the help and advice offered, even if it wasn't what I had hoped for.

Cheers,
-chad

All end users are not morons, but v1.12 to program a T2+?

Contact another dealer in the area, crazy? If your oven broke and the store closed, would you not contact another store in your area.

Elitism and egos, try Livelihood

Happy New Year

I hope you had a good holiday.

That's not it at all. We do get alot of people who think they have one thing or think they are entitled to something, but aren't.

I believe this points out a very real flaw in RTI's end user support.  It's not realistic to expect a retailer will be able to service needs a month from now, let alone a few years from now.  What is an end user to do?

I, as well as most on here, service products we sold years ago, so you are wrong there. It is realistic to expect us to take care of you years from now. You need to find the dealers who aren't in it for a quick buck, but who have been around a while and are just interested in taking care of you as a client, not a customer.

Some suggested contacting another dealer in the area, to which I'll reply "are you crazy"?  Why would I want to get pinched again for something that should (and in my case, did) come with the remote?

Refering to above answer, software did not come with the remote. The particular dealer, you hired, chose to break his dealer agreement with RTI and give you the software. RTI remotes are designed for a rofessional, who has had much training, to install and program. That is why the software is not available to end-users, same as Crestron, AMX, Elan, Lutron, and others.

Every time I hop into the RTI area here, I get frustrated all over again by the attitudes of some who think they, and they alone, are capable of programming and getting the most out of these remotes.  It's not rocket science, it's elitism and egos getting in the way of good customer support.

There you are wrong. I am very confident that many of my customers are very capable of programming remotes, that doesn't mean I'm am going to give them the software. If they want to be able to do it themselves after I leave, then I will sell them a URC remote and give them the software, because at the moment, it is allowed. But they won't get any tech-support for programming it from URC, that is reserved for dealers, at least for the pro remotes.

I really do appreciate the help and advice offered, even if it wasn't what I had hoped for.

There are DIY remotes out there, unfortunatly for you, RTI isn't one of them. I wish you the best, and would still recomend finding a dealer in you rea. You could also give RTI a call to find out who are some off the better guys in your area. They will never send you to some fly-by-night guy.
