All,

We have RTI as one of our lines and I have been wanting to use it as a multi-zone solution for budget systems. I was wondering though:

1. Have you guys used it as a multi-zone system with feedback?

2. What switchers/amps have you used with RTI?

3. How is 2-way feedback on the remotes Vs. the inwalls?

4. If you have what sirius/xm tuners and iPod docks have you used that worked well with feedback and RTI?

5. Is Zigbee realiable at all?

6. I really like Pandora and would love to start integrating it for my clients...is there any company that has a Pandora "tuner" that has a video output so I can send it to T.V.s and keypads, or better yet one with 2-way?

Any advice/input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Switcher War!!!

1. Yes.
2. Vaux/Elan.
3. in-wall - Awesome! / handheld - meh.
4. heard good things about escient FP1, denon is so-so.
5. Ask 10 people, get 10 answers. Doesn't cut it for me.
6. Wouldn't that be cool?!? Sonos is the best pandora client I have found, and it has virtually no integration capabilities.

Thanks for the quick response!

I had a feeling the in-walls would be way better than the handhelds with 2-way. Question though, have you used t3-v with denon ipod 2 way? I had one project were client wanted an ipod dock and a reciever with 2-way to the remote; volume and ipod feedback. I setup everything just as it was in the denon sample file, but I can't get it to work! For instance, the menu showes up, but when I go up and down nothing moves. The #/6 on the last line of metadata goes up and down but the options don't. Also for instance, if I go from main menu to playlists, it switches to playlists and I can see them fine but then I cant scroll through the playlists. It sends the command but the 2-way doesn't respond. Do you know what I mean? Lol, I know that was confusing. And yea sonos I've heard about and used, but just like you said, no integration capabilities!

Thanks!

I have a ASD-51N at the office with at T2CZ, and the reliability is not there. The metadata is sometimes garbled, and the browse doesn't always work. Long story short, it's not a solution that I would put in for a customer. I have a feeling it's more of an RTI problem than a Denon problem.

im still waiting for a good pandora client with two way ...

onkyo / integra has pandora on their latest line ,
but i dont believe they support two way.

one (lame?) option would be to get a dvd player or simliar source device that has pandora on it and put it on a video matrix.

that wouldnt really help you that much in your standard audio zones.

BnK CT multizone receiver, (2 way feedback only for 6 zones, unit cable of doing 12 mono if desired), works great. Iport iPod dock works great. Heard that the Escient dock takes a while to download all data, and you can't access things for several minutes after being docked.

I have had good luck with in wall and remotes. T3-V 2.4 and T2-C 2.4. T2-C seemed to be a bit quicker, more reliable, but both worked good once antenna was in good location. Used T3V to access front door camera via wifi netwok, this sometimes doesn't load, and you have to go back to the page to get it to load. No problems with that on the inwalls.

Zigbee not as forgiving as 433, but if you play with antenna location it does seem to do pretty good.

Did RTI ever work out the IP control with the B&K Ct line?? I have used IP control with another control system and it works great. This opens up RS-232 ports and gives you an avenue to up sell the home network.

Yes they did. We just finished 2 different installs with 2 ct units each, controlled via ip, works great.

We have however been having issues with 3 iports that I know of. They are all iw22(new model year) and not iw4. They worked for about a week with the xp8 via serial 2way great, then nothing. Now it will briefly show docked status but no commands or metadata operate. I am leaning towards an iport problem because the iport logo does not even come up on the ipod when docked. Should know more next week when we solve the problem.

1. Have you guys used it as a multi-zone system with feedback?

Yes

2. What switchers/amps have you used with RTI?

B&K and I believe they have the most flexibility. 12 inputs including 3 tuners. 6 additional direct zone inputs. And they sound awesome.

3. How is 2-way feedback on the remotes Vs. the inwalls?

In-walls are way better than the remotes. In-walls are rock solid whereas you have to rely on either zigbee or wifi and both have their inherent issues.

4. If you have what sirius/xm tuners and iPod docks have you used that worked well with feedback and RTI?

No XM or Sirius tuners. Other than maybe AV receivers that have it but I haven't play with it. I'm hoping they release a Nuvo tuner driver soon! I really like their Satellite tuners.

5. Is Zigbee reliable at all?

Depends on who you ask. It also depends on the environment. Too close to wifi or anything that produces interference and it will cause a lot of issues.

6. I really like Pandora and would love to start integrating it for my clients...is there any company that has a Pandora "tuner" that has a video output so I can send it to T.V.s and keypads, or better yet one with 2-way?

Autonomic Controls. Only works on the K4/T4 and it's pretty slow. But still pretty cool. The software should run on a dedicated computer with no speakers because it turns your computer into the server and you can't control the audio from your computer. So if you are watching a you tube clip with the audio up and someone turns Pandora on it will also play the Pandora audio at the same time.

I was wondering the same thing! Allegedly, B&K has a new firmware update to the CT unit so it will work with RTI's drivers. I haven't updated my office CT unit yet but according to past posts it's supposed be fixed.

Not for a complete system, but I would.

2. What switchers/amps have you used with RTI?

With feedback?  Russound, Marantz.  Without feedback?  Elan, Zektor, Neopro
(I'm not usually a Russound fan, but I like their 2-way integration a lot)

3. How is 2-way feedback on the remotes Vs. the inwalls?

Have yet to do an inwall besides the RKM-1

4. If you have what sirius/xm tuners and iPod docks have you used that worked well with feedback and RTI?

Escient FP-1, tuners built into Marantz AVRs

5. Is Zigbee realiable at all?

With 1 zigbee antenna with proper placement, yeah it's fine.  Multiple antennas gets more, uhh, interesting... and don't try to get the remotes to roam between antennas.

6. I really like Pandora and would love to start integrating it for my clients...is there any company that has a Pandora "tuner" that has a video output so I can send it to T.V.s and keypads, or better yet one with 2-way?

no idea

Hey guys,

Thanks for your great responses and I apologize for my late response!

Happy Thanks Giving to you all!

Again, Thank you for the advice.

It seems B&k is the winner. Would love to a get a job so I could integrate all of this! I think if I do though, it would be best to keep in-walls as 2-way and remotes as 433 for now...

By the way,

That Antex piece looks amazing! I have a lot of people who love having Sirius in their homes and it would be great to Integrate that into my next project that requires Sirius.

Has anyone used Russound RNET Sources? How is the meta-data? Does it give you scrolling lists for the iBridge and tuners?

Thanks again.
