Has anyone figured out a way to add your own icons to the glass buttons in TDD?

Example: They have a "source" button in the glass bitmap library w the satellite dish icon. I want to have a glass button w a Dish Netowrk logo/icon on it instead. I can re-size the Dish Net logo in Photoshop to make it the exact size (94x75) of the original glass button, but when you drag the new logo to the original glass button location, the "glass" features are lost. Ive tried this with the blank buttons as well, like the round glass buttons.

It would seem that I need to do this in "layers", starting with a blank glass button, then adding the icon/logo as a second layer. Does this sound right? Im not a Photoshop guru, so if is the case Ill turn it over to someone who is.

Related question:
Does anyone have a BLANK bitmap of the glass 94x75 button? All I see in the bitmap library are ones that already have icons imbedded in them.

Joey,

You're a wizz.

Without giving away too many trade secrets, what process did you use to extract the standard glass button out of the RTI library as I could not find the files anywhere, or did you just create one from scratch.

I've been in the situation where I've needed to take the standard graphics and slightly modify them for use in Australia but have usually hit a road block.

I don't do enough graphics stuff to justify buying Photoshop, so have been using GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) which has worked very well for basic editing in the past.

Ill bite too. How did you pull the existing logo's out of the RTI glass button w/o losing the "glass" look?

Im good enough w photoshop that if I had a blank glass button, I could probably add the icons as needed. Care to share the blank glass button as well?

Either way, thanks a BUNCH!

All you need to do is make it fit, and make white be your alpha channel on any of these. Not to tough if you have the tools.

There is a BLANK glass button in the size you are looking for already there.

Icon Button (Large) - Blank (94 x 75)

It is between "Bell" and "Blu-ray".

You can add a logo to the button in photoshop (etc)....or just put your Dish Logo on the remote, and then put the blank glass button over top.
...couple a thumb tacks and a stick of double sided tape should hold this baby up...

I originally thought I saw a blank glass button somewhere along the line but then couldn't find it.

But now I have found it where fluid-druid said it was.

So now how do you import that button into photoshop and retain transparency as I cannot find the source file anywhere.

Yeah, but have you actually done this and then brought that file back into TTD? When I do it like that it becomes mainly black and loses its transparency.

You have to keep the file in png format....and export it as png as well... then you should be good. jpegs are not able to do transparencies.
