I am considering purchasing Speakercraft In-wall/ceiling speakers and was wondering if anyone had any comments. I want to use them in my den in the wall on either side of the e-center & in the rear for surround. I will be using a Yamaha subwoofer with them as well.

They are priced at $225.00/pr.

My brother has them and said that they were awful!

I've never liked in-wall speakers... but I know space constraints come first. They'll probably be passable for rear channel usage (ProLogic; think hard before using them for Dolby Digital) but I don't think you'd be pleased with them as mains, subwoofer or not.

I have about ten pair of these. Three pair are
the 8.5 MIT's which are excellent in bedroom, den
etc. (high wife approval factor, especially if
grilles painted to match walls) .But I can't imagine using them in a serious home theater
application.

As a long time dealer for this product line, I agree with Eron's opinion completely The 8.5 MIT is a great speaker for an inwall product. In wall speakers in my oponion have no business in a serious home theater or critical listining environment. They just can't keep up with a comparably priced cabinet speaker.
