I have Bose...never again.
I have to go relatively cheap so...
First I was thinking Energy Take 5 then a few months later I found out about Paradigm.
Going to thier site you can piece together a great set for around $11-1200.
I have never heard anything bad about them. They have only come highly recommended so far.
Thanks,

this may not help much but then again it might. I don't own a full set of Paradigm speakers but do have the sub-woofer. The sound is full and very impressive for lows. I can say I've been completely happy with the product.. -- adrian :-P

Andrew, I have Paradigm Reference Studio 60s, CC-450 center, ADP-350 dipole surrounds and a pair of Reference Studio 20s in another room. I couldn't be happier. Take a look at the Paradigm Reference series stuff. Paradigm products typically [in my opinion] out-perform more expensive speakers made by other manufacturers. Very clean, very nice soundstage, airy highs and solid bass (although even with the Studio 60s, I'd recommend a sub). Drop me a line if I can answer any questions for you. Good luck!

Andrew, I have the Paradigm Mini-Monitors as the R & L, the CC-350 for the center, the Titans for the rear and a Yamaha sub. I think they are the one of the best natural sounding products for the money. You will get a clean and powerful sound from them. Andrew:
Look at the review on the Take 5 system in Home Theater magazine. They gave it an exellent write up, especially the ES8 subwoofer. I am not pushing the system, I just remember the article. I bought the ES8 based on the review.

I nearly shelled out "big bucks" for a B&W home theatre speaker system, then I heard the Paradigm Studio Reference Series (at a B&W dealer) and they blew me away. I purchased Studio 80's, Studio ADP's and a Studio CC center and couldn't be more pleased. Saved lots of money compared with what the B&W system would have cost. Tip: You should get about a 35% discount from retail.

I've been using Paradigm speakers in my various HT systems since 1990 and highly recomend them. You won't find much better performance for the money.
My original 5SE MKII's sound just as good as the day I bought them.

I do like paradigm, (i still have a large center channel in my home) but I think you should test out the PSB line of speakers. For the money, they are very close, but they do sound different and present the sound differently. Personally, I went with the PSB Stratus series (probably a little higher price than you want to go.) but give them a shot, if you have a dealer nearby.
Best of luck
