I have the Sony S500D DVD player which says it will pass DTS through to my Sony 935 receiver, has anyone proven that this works?

Also, can someone tell me if I only need to connect the AC-3 coax, or the TOS-LINK, or the 5.1 inputs from my DVD to my Sony 935 receiver? Do I only need one of these, or more than one? My receiver will allow me to connect all of them, but if I only need one, which one is best?

Can I make my own S-link cables? Does anyone have the data on it or should I use my ohm meter and figure it out myself? I thought I would get S-link cables with all of my Sony gear, but no go.

About the Sony CX350 300 disc Cd Changer, there isn't an S-link on it, but there is a connection marked A control, or A1 control, did Sony change this on newer models?

If you can't answer all of these questions, answer just what you know about. Thanks.

Q1: It won't work with DTS DVDs.

Q2: You just need to connect either of the first two if you want your receiver to do the decoding or the last one if you want the DVD player to do the decoding.

Q3: You can make your own S-Link cables, or you can go down to your local Radio Shack and pick up some cable with a mono 1/8" mini jack on either end.

Q4: Not sure on this one, but apparently the A1 control is an "enhanced" S-Link.

Thanks for the reply.. I called Sony last night and verified that my DVD will not pass DTS to my receiver. This is bad news to me because Short-Circuit City told me that it would Decode Dolby Digital, and pass DTS through to my own decoder.

The other misinfomation Sony gave me was on my Sony AV2000 remote. They first said it would not work with my DE935 receiver. I couldn't get it to work is why I called in the first place. After I got of the phone I accidently found that the button marked AMP will control the DE935 receiver perfectly. Why they didn't know that is beyond me is that the button marked AMP, by default, controls the DE935 perfectly.
