I am looking to upgrade to a home Theatre system. I have read the thread regarding Bose speakers being crap. What then is the recommendation for someone who would want great sounding speakers (must be small to be "wife-friendly") for music (rock to jazz to some classical) and for home theatre. Also, looking for receiver.

I would like to do both for under $1000

Any thoughts out there? Thanks

For speakers I'd suggest taking a look at the Energy Take 5, probably the most popular entry level system right now. MSRP is $800, but you can order them for around $550 or less via mailorder/internet. Go to [Link: energy-speakers.com] for info.

For a receiver I'd suggest either a Denon 2700 or Yamaha 795.

Definately use http://www.audioreview.com to see people's opinions on equipment and where to find them.
