Hello all,
I bought the Sony STR-DB840 used, without a remote a while back and now I'm trying to find a remote that will work. Should any universal remote work or do I need to buy a special one? I just want to be able to turn it on/off and adjust volume.
Any help would be great!

If you want something cheap, just about any universal will do power and volume. But a UEI remote can do almost every possible function. That includes the One-for-all brand, RCA RCRP05B, Inteset INT-422 and most cable TV remotes. If you buy such a remote, the correct setup code is Audio 0158 or 30158.

You're welcome. But I think I'll give up trying to recommend good remotes to people. The Sony isn't even in the same ballpark as the Inteset. Oh well.
