does anyone know of a way I can completely shut off this receiver. Right now I can only get it to go in standby mode and it is in a small space and gets hot even on standby.

If it's plugged into power the only options you have are On and Standby.

Do you have network control enabled? Or Zone 2 on? Those options will draw some power even during Standby.'

Of course your best option is to move it out of the small space before it overheats. Running it hot will not be good in the long run.
