I can tell by some of the postings here that most don't like the Bose systems... However I own a lifestyles 25 given as a house warming gift about 4 years ago, it still works fine... I recently purchased a Sony RM-AV3100 remote that will even operate lights! But, have been trying to figure out a way that it could at least control the volume on my Bose system. I have been reading about X10 is that a possible solution? and before anyone suggest, I am not currently in the market to buy a whole new home theater sound system ;o) Thanks in advance for any and all good advice!

Not certain about the Lifestyle 25 system, but on other Blose systems, you have to enter the remote control menu and turn "IR Control" to "on" to use a universal remote.

There may also be a "Teach" setting which allows you to receive IR codes from the system and learn them into your RM.

Only the LS 28 & 35 are IR controllable.
