Vector regardless of age, a rig, like the one you currently have is far better, even now that any blose system. If you are looking to downgrade for whatever reason, go see a high end 2 channel specialist, and let them know what your goals are and they will match your needs to the right product. I promise you will be much happier.

Vector, you can never have too much power, and I am not pulling a Tim Taylor (tool time tv show). speakers place the demand on the amp not the other way around, and the more power you have the less distrortion the amp will produce, because it is under less stress. So if you are happy with your amp and it has that much power, it is probably a more powerful amp than the Denon you covet, even though it is older. If you cannot make up your mind on what to buy, work with a dealer that will let you take speakers home for an in house demo, or at least bring your rig into their showroom so you can hear for your self how the combo will sound. If you are close to Richmond, VA you are more than welcome to come by and see what we have, and take a pair home to demo if you would like.

My thanks to all of you. These were brands I hadn't known of. On Saturday, I'm auditioning a DF Pro 100 center and sides, and 2 Pro 80 for the surround. I look forward to it. Thanks again.

Ryes,

Just a few tips...

Fo the price of the Pro 80's in the rear you can get the BP1.2 bipolar surrounds.

Also, all Pro Cinema has been updated to Pro Cinema MKII. They now are avaiolable in a piano gloss finish or a brushed aluminum finish. A big asthetic improvement. Or you could probably get a discount on the older matte black Pro Cinema.

Good Luck!

Vector we use various spectrum analyzers, the one I prefer is made by sencore. Using the RTA feature is very helpful in identifying room acoustics.

I've logged hundreds of hours with an audio control 1/3 octive RTA in my previous life as a competition car audio guru.
While it is a very usefull 'tool' , DO NOT 'eq' your room to have a 'perfect' flat line! It will sound like a cheap pile of crap!!!
The idea is to keep the transition between octive segments as smooth as possible. Idealy + or - 3db.
For the best percieved sound, you will likely end up with a "boost in the bass frequency's, tapering down in the midrange(800 - 1.3k) and then slopeing gradually up in the higher frequencies as per taste.

Don't buy BOSE. There is no highs and lows. If you wish to hear the bass (low frequescy) or the tweeters (high frequency) from the music, you have to turn it up. Meaning that you have to raise the volume. I do not recommend BOSE for home theater because of the range that the Dolbys and DTSs requirements. They both recommend full range speakers. There a lot great sounding speakers out there. I would recommend the following speakers if you are interested.

1. NHT
2. B&W
3. Vandersteen
4. Mirage
5. Paradigm
6. Legacy Audio
7. Totem Acoustics
8. Snell

This is just to name a few but go ahead and audition them. You will not be disappointed. Give us holler and let us know.

If you could budget about $1500 the Velodyne Deco system is awesome. The Def. Tech. system isn't bad either.

I still think Paradigm has the best sound for the money.
But thats a subjective call. Anything but Blose!!!
