Hi Everyone,

I have these devices:
DVD: Pioneer DVL-909 IR
Sat1: Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra FTA IR,
Sat2: Bell expressvu 4500 IR/RF,
Audio: Bose Lifestyle® 30 Series II Home Theater System RF,
4 way A/V Selector box: from Radio Shack IR Learning(not to worried about this one)
and Toshiba TP50H50(Only one that is supported).
I don't see support for these devices in the IR Database, I would like to
insure that MX-850 works with these devices before I buy because it is a
large investment! And I have to sell the Idea to my wife!

What other hardware do I need to get the bose Lifestyle to work! (one post said a C-1024 is needed I didn't understand this)

The first question in a system like this has to be:
What equipment do you already have and what equipment are you looking to purchase? "I would like to insure that MX-850 works with these devices before I buy because it is a large investment! And I have to sell the Idea to my wife!" Are you looking for just the remote, or is this the system you are looking to purchase?

No one on here is going to try and sell you equipment, but we may have some reccomendations on equipment that is a better value for you and is easier to integrate.

The next questions will be what is the room like (size, shape, etc) and what is the purpose of the system? Theater? Music? Both?

some equipment is easier to integrate in a single purpose room, than a multi-purpose. For example, if you are going to use you DVD as both a DVD player, and as a CD player, you will want a preamp/recevier with discrete codes to change you from your surround mode into your music mode. With some equipment this is easy, with some it is very difficult. Please give a little more information and we can see if we can help you.

This is the Equipment that I have ( my current setup this is what I stated above!)
DVD: Pioneer DVL-909 IR
Sat1: Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra FTA IR,
Sat2: Bell expressvu 4500 IR/RF,
Audio: Bose Lifestyle® 30 Series II Home Theater System RF,
4 way A/V Selector box: from Radio Shack IR Learning
and Toshiba TP50H50.

The system I am looking at is MX-850 PKG! OR the MX-800 PKG!

The room size is 12f X 16f, all equipment is in the same room for Theater and Music.

So the question is will The MX-850Pkg remote system from Universal work with my Equipment ?( They are not listed in the IR Database)
What other hardware do I need to get the bose Lifestyle to work! (one post said a C-1024 is needed I didn't understand this)

I hope this helps!
Thanks

After a bit of research, it appears that all of your equipment will work with the MX remote with the exception of the Bose system(more on that below). The DVD and DSS receivers, while not in the database, are easily learned into the software over IR. That is the beauty of a true universal remote, just because something is not in the database doesn't mean you can't control it. You will have to take some time testing existing codes in the database(i.e. test various Pioneer DVD players and odds are, one of them will use the same codes as yours), or learning the codes from the OEM remotes. Once again this is done fairly easily but it can be time consuming.
As for the Bose system, while it supports the functions you want, the OEM remote only uses RF. This becomes a problem in that while the MX is also an RF capable remote, the RF sections of the remotes are different. When you get the MX, you can load a file for one of the lifestyle systems into it, switch it to RF and see if it will talk to your lifestyle system directly. The odds on this working are not good, but it does happen(the new Pronto remotes will talk to the LG 3200 DSS receivers over RF quite well, but for other devices, they need the RF station to convert the signal to IR). If the remote does not talk to the lifestyle system directly, you will need the C-1024 controller which converts the IR output from the MX into the serial connection for the lifestyle system. This is most likely what you will need to do.
The end result is that you can get one of the MX packages, but you will most likely need the 1024 module. The manual for the 1024 explains quite a bit:

The backlighting is MUCH better on the 850. Also the seperate center SELECT button on the 850 is much easier to use than the thumbpad on the 800. Both are fantastic remotes!
