We are currently evaluating these products to add to our line up. Both impressive toys.
I have read through the reviews and posts on both products but would be interested in hearing from others who have compared these products and your views.
Thanks
Bri

I haven't had alot of experiance with the RTI, but, the MX-3000 is a good product. The whole HTM lineup is well thought out, offers great support, and will make your clients think you are the best thing that ever happened to them. From the ease of use to the bullet-proof design, you'll have no unhappy customers. I wish I could say the same about every product I sell.
Its also easy to program! That helps the bottom line.

i use the mx-700/800 - great value. the rti can do more but at more than 2 times the cost.

I also use a ton of the HTM products, but comparing the 3000 to the T2+ I gotta choose RTI. My main reason is ease of use. I like to "mack out" on the couch and have one handed control over everything. Once you're used to it you'll hardly ever have to look at the screen. Both systems are easily programmed. You should get one of each, program them, play with them and see for yourself.
Good luck on the search.

The MX-3000 is definately a two handed remote(all touch screens are) but check out the hard button remotes(850,700,etc,) and tell me you can't run them in a "relaxed state". Life should be so easy.

This is true, i should have mentioned i own 2 mx700's, 1 mx500 and the T2+. All comfortable for 1 handed operation. You just gotta get used to the Ch and Vol buttons on opposite sides.

I will agree to that. I even thought about trying to swap them(hardwire),but, it didn't look feasable.

I had the screens go bad on two RTI Remotes and I have Never received the replacements. AVAD sent me two MX800's instead. I had to then program two MX800's in there place. Their software is great, they had some troubles early on with their screens, they still do on the T2, I have no clue about the T2+. Originally I really liked the RTI T2, but do to reliability issues we change back to the MX800 and MX3000. When coupled withthe IRF6 the T2 had awesome RF capability and range while also allowing the remote to send out IR commands and the IRF6 sending out RS232 commands. Cool remote just wish they had better screens. We have never had a bad HTM product, but hteir tech suuport is great and so is their IR Code library.

I too have had many screens go bad on the T2's. I gave up on them for quite some time, but checked them out again after hearing the problem was fixed. From what i've noticed it must be b/c i haven't gotten a call back on those units.

I love the MX series remotes, but i do like the RTI program better. I've had the new T2+ for over a month now - testing with it - reprogramming it for new products - basically just making it work its ass off and i have no complaints. I haven't used the rf piece on the new unit yet, but i never had problems with the old one. Nobody can say the same for the HTM remotes - thank god thats over for the majority of us.

I can't say the same as vw - i have not been impressed with HTM tech support - when i tried them out ( in the beginning with all the rf problems) They had no more info for me that you couldnt find off this site. Many phone calls ending up with all of us scratching our heads. I can't say i've ever really needed to speak to RTI's techs - maybe a couple times at most.

Again, good luck

Mike

The New T2+ is by far the king of the hill, its thinner and lighter wherefore it sets better in your hand, further it now comes with a complement of physical transport controls that will satisfy any couch potato. The remote no longer has removable batteries, and you might think, “what if the remote is left off the charger and the battery dies, what happens when I want to turn my system on and the remote does not work!” Well fortunately with the new lithium ion battery you just set the remote on the charger for 3 minutes and it will have enough juice to run the rest of the day. The RF range with the RP-6 is amazing and can be extended further still by adding up to 9 more antennas connected over cat 5. I especially like the new programmable 3 contact closer points on the RP-6 I use these a lot. The new software is a giant step forward from the old utility. My favorite function is the replace code feature, no longer do you have to manually replace each code for a satellite receiver for example, now you just go to the master list and change the few primary codes and the program goes through and changes all of the old codes to the new codes for you in a blink. For the money, there simply isn’t a better remote.

Thanks, it appears a small can of worms may have been opened, with both products being "king of the hill" depending on personal preference.
The only negatives during our playing (I mean testing) would be the rf range of the T2+ (we were only able to get about 20ft in store) and learning the programming of the MX3000 (it's not bad just different to what I have been using). Both these seem to be common to the reviews.
Now where is that coin?
Any other opinions out there?

Just add a second antenna if you are haveing problems with reception, the T2+ now has the best reception of any of the non-wifi remotes
