Alright guys, here's the skinny for the Dallas/FT Worth/Tyler area. Yes these guys are still at the same location {11126 Shady Trail suite #115 Dallas Texas 75229 ] They drive around and sell speaker components out of five company owned chevy vans for whatever they can get for them, paying in 230-270 bucks depending on the model, to the manager. These guys have a quota of 4 sales a day, anything beyond that gets them bonuses depending on the # above quota, so if they get 4 people to buy them at cost, and at least 1 "big money" sale, say 1000 bucks, after payout they can still walk away with like 400-1000 bucks in hand for the day's work, sounded to me like easy money. But the sales tactics are despicable, you guys are right about that, they shouldn't misrepresent themselves as installation techs selling extra sets from a contracted job, which would actually be selling stolen property, that's just a quick way for them to get people to listen to their pitch, so they can stress the deal and make you feel like it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, which builds the impulse to buy, most people won't believe there's an actual good deal on stuff like this unless it is "hot", and it discourages people from inquiring into the origins of their new equipment, thereby admitting that they purchased "supposedly" stolen goods, which reduces the amount of refunds due to faulty equipment. They shouldn't be trying to turn every no into a yes, they shouldn't misrepresent which set of speakers you're looking at in the catologues, [the non amplified speakers are about 1500 in the catologues, the powered sets range from 2000 to 3300], and they definitely shouldn't cuss people for turning them down. The only set of towers I actually heard hooked up were the Dahlton Tower set with the built in amplifier, at half volume you could hear the set of 2 at the other end of the block, so I wouldn't say they were junk. That said, I think you should simply try hooking up the ones you've got, and for christ's sake people, send in the warranty info card, because they have a 5 year warranty against defects, if yours are defective, don't get stupid and violent, get smart and get them replaced or refunded just like you would if you got something from wal-mart, or k-mart, or Target, or any other department store that deals in mass quantities of electronics, no muss no fuss, no screaming, yelling, or bloodshed. I notice the only people complaining on this site are the ones who A: read up on it and started whining when they saw all the other complaints, or B: happened to get an inferior model and didn't think to get their info straight in case they needed to use the warranty. These guys got smart when the company concept was created, because they knew that most people are gullible, stupid, greedy, impulsive and ignorant. What they're doing is almost entirely legal, in that they are selling a tangible product, not simply a concept or a gimmick intended to swindle people out of thier money like ponsi schemes, pyramid scams, etc... As independant distributors they are allowed to set the price of their product as high or as low as they like. Just because you didn't get the item as cheaply as some other person doesn't mean you were ripped off per say, it just means you're an impulsive buyer who isn't smart enough to shop around. It's not the distributor's fault if one of the speaker sets happens to be faulty, or if the customer doesn't ask for a reciept, any more than if you bought a piece of junk at wal-mart and didn't make sure you had the reciept, then the cops would laugh just as hard at you when you reported wal-mart for ripping you off. The only illegal thing anywhere in this business has already been mentioned in above posts. The independant distributors aren't issued a 10-99 tax form, by which earnings are reported to the IRS, they are individually responsible for reporting thier own earnings, and if they do misrepresent this amount then yes they are guilty of Tax Evasion, the other point is that some towns require you to have a solicitor's permit and may have some requirements to comply with this permit, such as identification badges, etc... and most places requiring a permit specifically state on the permit that you can't solicit anywhere that has been posted "No Soliciting" such as almost any franchised business like grocery stores, department stores, banks etc... which would void said permit. By the way, those "phony" catologues are totally real, bought off the rack at a gas station for 9.95.

So, long story short, for the pi$$ers and moaners, shame on you for not being smarter with your money. And for the ones who managed to get the sets for less than 200 bucks, congratulations on being more resilient than the greasy slimeball salesmen who were simply taught the wrong way to make a sale.

Nice info. Just had to make some comments. First one: consider paragraphs.

Redundant. (I'm a little sick of sales people) I see little difference between these guys and the pushy vacuum salesman we had at our house recently and the a** at Sears Appliances who wouldn't even show me a non-Kenmore product. Thank you internet, for giving me somewhere to shop.

The only set
of towers I actually heard hooked up were the
Dahlton Tower set with the built in amplifier,
at half volume you could hear the set of 2 at
the other end of the block, so I wouldn't say
they were junk.

That means nothing to their sonic value, really.

So, long story short, for the pi$$ers and moaners,
shame on you for not being smarter with your money.

Amen.

You seem to know quite a bit about this. Nothing better to do on a Wed afternoon than follow them around? Former sales guy?

Yep, you caught me, I am a former sales guy, and was looking for a new job when I saw an ad in the classifieds stating, audio systems delivery driver 800-1200 per week, so naturally I was jumping for joy when they called me back.
I rode in the van with this greasy slimeball while he wheeled, dealed, and basically used every bad salesman technique we were taught to avoid at my last sales job. So I thought, okay, good company bad example, so I said I'd come back tomorrow and try again, when I got home I tried the net for a little product research, found this forum and a few others like it, and found out it was the whole company, not just this one dirtbag.
Needless to say, I felt everyone who has been posting in the dark to this forum should know exactly what's what, and that the sales pitch they have heard in every city is the same, because it was all organized by the same managers who travel around the world setting up new "offices", training new drug addicts with the same exact methods of attracting buyers, making tons of money off of hardworking individuals that are desperate enough to find a deal that they get taken for a ride, I fell for it too untill I found out just how low the quality is on thier systems.
Again, long story short, I am back on the job hunt, and trying to hook up with some legitimate independant salesmen who have a quality product, because it does exist and I believe people should know that all salesmen aren't the same.

I bought my L6 out of a wal-mart parking lot in Conroe, TX from the two guys with the magazine about 8 months ago for only $100 and it's been working fine, in fact I am listening to it right now. It sounds better than my $500 Kenwood surround sound system (just don't lose the remote). I still think I got a good deal. BTW, They will take any amount, so start low.

Hello there,

I had a run in with these guys today in The Woodlands
Texas, and managed to get their license plate
and cell phone number. I didnt end up paying them,
but I did some homework and research and I know
where they run and their set up now. Email me
and I'll explain how we can get them.

Hi Yoga. A friend of mine and I bought a brand new in the box, L-6 in thousand palms ca. two weeks ago. these two were driving a dark chevy suburban. the story is the same, except the guy told me that he went to school for sound systems. I even saw the catalog with the $2300 price list. I don't know if I got taken or not. The only problem I'm having is that I can't hook them up and get surround sound. there are only two out put rc hook-ups on the back of the vcr, dvd and tv, and six input jacks on the back of the amplified speaker. Maybe thats what everyone is complaining about. I don't know enough about theater systems, to know how to connect the components to the speakers. Ie. two out-put jacks into six in-put jacks, or if I need, or can buy another component to hook them up to. I only paid $150 for it, sealed box, with wires, remote and instructions. Hardst set of instructions I've ever tried to read. I'm not upset, I don't think they sound all that bad, not for $150 anyway. I can get two speakers to work. I just can't get the surround sound to work.
I saw three L-6 systems on e-bay tonite. One starting bid was $200, one at $250, and one at $500.
If anyone can tell me, or give me a few pointers on hooking it up for the surround sound, I'd sure be greatful.

Well,
Like all of you, I let greed overcome commonsense. Damn! I'll be kicking myself over this incident for a long time. My story is similar to many of yours...walking in a shopping area's parking lot (The Galleria in Rosville, CA), when I was approached by two young white guys in a SUV. "We work for a shipping company...accidently received extra speakers from the shipping department...here's a magazine article...blah blah blah." I should have known better. If these speakers were such great deals, why weren't these two guys giving the items to friends or family, or selling it on EBay? Bogus claims and bogus advertisement. Yeah, I bought the speakers and immediately regretted doing so. I couldn't find the speakers at Best Buy. Also, I went to Barnes and Nobles, flipped through several Audio/Video magazines, and was unable to find that article or magazine the two guys had shown me. After going onto the internet and typing into google.com "theater logic home cinema" my worst suspicions were confirmed. I just got shafted. Anyone else in the Sacramento/Roseville, CA area get taken by these two? One guys name was Aaron and I don't remember the other guys. I realize the prospect is pretty bleak, but I want my $$$ back.

Why are these morons posting on this site?..for sympathy?..strength in numbers?..to show that there is a general lack of common sense running rampant in this country??..if someone,,anyone would approch me in a PARKING LOT to sell me something my first thought would be its hot!!!..my second would be to put as much distance between myself and them as possible before calling the cops..there is no other term for these people ...the buyers that is,...IDIOTS!
