How bout a Price range and an application? I wouldnt recomend the same scaler for a Plasma as I would a Rear projection TV or a Front porjector.....

Plus, they come is all kinds of price ranges... You can spend anywhere from $400 to $10,000 or more on some top of the line models...

Thanks Impaqt, I guess I should have given more info. We use the Infocus projectors and Fujitsu plasma's, most of our gear in general is mid-fi to high end(from NAD/Integra to Music Fidelity/Plinius, and Monitor Audio to Theil). Screens are usually Stewart.

Then you probably want one with a digital, perhaps HDMI, output. The iscan HD looks like something I want, but the HDMI version isn't due until next year. Current version has SDI, though.

Thanks Spiky

Spiky have you used the iscan products on a job? I had heard that Crystal Image was pretty good, any feedback on that one.

Think I should ask Cablebusters which scalers he uses? :)

I was also trying to get some info on scalers. I have a few jobs that have plasmas that need about 60' of cables to equipment. I was considering a Key Digital Leeza with an MIT active DVI cable which used 3 cat5es. What would you guys recommend? I am also considering Runco. Thoughts?

I've never used one. But I'm planning on a digital PJ, perhaps this winter, and I still use some analog sources. I have a feeling I'd prefer an iscan to the PJ's scaler.

Hey guys I just got this tip in an email from our Audio Research rep about a new scaler combo that he was very impressed with and I thought I would share it with everyone.

mr2channel, it depends on your price range.

The company I work for manufacturers some seamless switchers / scalers which are probably among the best on the market.

Depending on the price range you are looking at the scaling can be done for as little as $1395. The higher end models have HD outputs as well as PIP (picture in picture), listing for $1995.

Shoot me an email and I can get you some lit on them.
