Just thought I would post and share my experience.

I have had a VR-507 w/RC-R0720 remote for about three years now. After the second year (warranty had just ran out) the receiver stopped taking inputs from the remote. It would continue to play but would not accept inputs from the remote mentioned above or a universal remote that came with my satellite reciever. The front panel will continue to accept inputs.

I assumed it was heat also and ran the system with the cover removed. No change. It would work just after power up and then stop working only to work again later in the day. I grew tired of this and had a service shop take a look at it. They quoted a 140-160 repair bill to replace the microprocessor and reset chip.

From the posts above, it looks like Kenwood has a problem with their product. I am going to call 1-800-Kenwood and talk to someone in their service department. Maybe you guys would like to do the same.

I have also experienced difficulty with the Kenwood VR-507 responding to input from the RC-R0720 remote. I not experienced any problems controlling the TV, DVD/CD player, and VCR with this remote, only the VR-507 receiver. Sometimes the receiver would respond to the input from the remote and other times not. This problem started about 3 months ago (August 2004), but only recently has become a more chronic problem. The receiver responds to input from the remote control about 15% of the time now.

Is the microprocessor and reset chip replaceable by the consumer?

Any luck from Kenwood? Thanks!

Hi,

I also have the Kenwood VR-507 with the same issues, remote works for a short period then no response. I've tried two different universal remotes and both experience the same problems. Definitely an issue with the receiver. I'm also looking for tips to resolve this issue without having to pay for repairs. Let me know if you find any.

I have the same reciever. I have a question for everyone that has this Kenwood reciever. Do any of you have an HD Dish or HD Cable Box? I have one and I noticed my remote stopped working for the most part after I got Dish HD. Dont know if something is interferring or what, but that is when I noticed my problems with my remote.
