Hi Gang

Basically, I am looking for and IR extender/repeater(?) which will allow me to control a satellite dish reciever.

I have it set-up in my basement and if I'm there I control it with the remote that came with it, but I would the ability to control it
from my:

1) Upstairs bedroom
2) main livingroom
3) another room in my house

as well. I have the video signal set-up in these rooms, so that's OK.

I wonder if any of you might be able to suggest a unit I can get that will work for my situation without breaking the
bank!

I have tried the pyramid shaped wireless units, but they don't seem to be working for me ( I seem to be getting too much interference with them and they actually render the remotes useless, quite strange!) and I need to accomadate three rooms.

I guess what I need is some kind of an 'eye' ( three of them) and one output in front of the satellite receiver.

Can anyone please suggest something that might suit my needs? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you, Glenn

Some DSS boxes come with an RF (radio-frequency) remote. Maybe you can trade in your model to a better one?

Otherwise, your best bet is to follow my posting about an RF remote that converts the signal to an IR transmitter (which, in turn, operates the DSS).

Vity system www.vity.com can give you system for IR enhancement in all your home. I've just installed a similar system for a Pronto 940 to control Sony CD changer 300, and Radio.
Check and mail me if you want help

Two choices here. A wireless RF based Ir repeating system like the x-10 Powermids, or a much more reliable hardwired system from Xantech or someone similiar.

This is truly a case of you'll get what you pay for. In some homes the Powermids work fine, but in most homes, they will be subject to interference from lots of sources, and only be about 85-95% reliable. That may sound like a good reliability rate, but you'll get tired of it quickly.

The wired systems are harder to install, but you can count on them being just about 100% reliable.
