I'm looking to buy an ES Sony receiver. I want the best available--except I'm not interested in the 90ES w/ Vision Touch since I've heard bad reviews on that remote system and it's been out for some time now. I'm interested in the 80ES or any of the upcoming? replacements for their current line (55?, ...) which I've heard is coming out in August.
1) Does anyone have info. on the new models and what new features they'll have? When they'll arrive?
2) Can anyone confirm that the ES80 has DTS and the 2-way LCD remote? Is this their latest top-end receiver to come out?

Thanks for the help.

I don't know what Sony has coming out in August. I'm am looking at the current brochure which doesn't specifiy DTS for the DA80ES. The DA50ES and DA30ES have a built in DTS decoder. The DA50ES has the LCD remote. I bought a DA50ES, which has been very nice, although the remote isn't what I was hoping for. I've order a Pronto which I'm think will be the ticket.

The 80ES & 90ES are the model year *before* the 30ES and 50ES. The 80ES comes with a traditional plain remote, while the 90ES has VisionTouch. Neither have DTS decoding.

This summer Sony is supposed to release the 555ES which will replace the 50ES. DTS & Dolby Digital are a sure thing, but I have no idea on the rest.

The 550ES and the 330Es are basically the same as the earlier (30ES and 50ES). The difference is in the remote controls and there is also more watts per channel.

the 555ES is out and it is a good sounding piece of gear.............Hope you have a pronto because the reomte is a big piece of something................. Yes they did make it worse then the da50 remote...... It has macro buttons and it gives you 8 steps like power(NOT DISCRETE ON/OFF) and tv/video (NOT DISCRETE INPUTS)

Ouch. At a minimum I only hope it will work with older IR codes from my GA8ES receiver in the same way. If so, I'm going to be looking hard at it or the 777ES. Not that Sony has any info on these two up yet.
