I had to buy one, too. This thing sounds like the type of remote I've been waiting for.

And, to think, I almost settled for a Pronto...

I agree that the DSP-A1 remote is terrible. It is impossible to make out the incredibly small lettering in a dark room even though the buttons light up.

I have bought a number of cheaper univeral remotes (one was a $100 Sony) and they were unable to learn the DSP-A1 codes, so I would make sure that it is easy to return any remote in case it doesn't do the job.
